For those of you who haven’t heard of Chewbeads let me fill you in. Lisa Greenwald, a former veteran of the fashion industry, got the idea to make baby safe jewelry after her son, Ben, was born in 2009. The concept is brilliant, jewelry that is safe for your baby to chew on and stylish at the same time! It’s one of those ideas that you are dumbfounded as to how society went so long without it and wish you could have come up with it yourself. Here’s to Lisa and her successful dream that became a reality… mommy chic jewelry that truly is baby safe!

We knew that 60 degree weather couldn't last forever- at least not in the mid-atlantic, mid-january; But really?! My-oh-my, nothing says "winter's here" more than the wind and chilliness we've had the last few days.

If there is ONE thing I love in the world, it is heels. And I am not talking about kitten heels (although very cute in their own right). I am talking about the real deal--- high heels. And when I say high, I mean HIGH--- four inches, five inches, six inches.

Yes, you might feel a bit of pinch here and squeeze there when you first put on a new pair of high heels. But as my mother once told me the first time I had my unibrow waxed at the age of ten: “It hurts to be beautiful.”

So, let's speak candidly for a second. I work in one of the most beautiful stores on the East Coast and I am surrounded by...sometimes inundated with gorgeous goods from all around the world. I'm talking perfect leather boots, fur-trimmed scarves, hand-set precious stones...and I don't think I have ever fallen this hard for something within my price range.

It is P-E-R-F-E-C-T-I-O-N.

Can I gush for a second? This bag is the most delicious color, it sits perfectly on the shoulder and boasts enough room for all of my ~~junk~~ necessities. Work notebook? Check. Giant pouch of lipgloss even though I only use Carmex? Check. Ipad? I don't have one...but that baby would fit in here. Also, as if I have to mention, this bag is striped (reason enough to love) and it has sequins! My inner 6th grade jazz-dancer is leaping for joy right now.

I am currently crossing my fingers that there is one in my birthday gift pile...although that 'pile' I used to get when I was 5 has since been replaced by 'grown-up' gifts like 'pats on the back' and 'over the hill' jokes...

Where the heck we got the name 'Sassanova?'

Here is a short history that explains it all:

Sassanova was born in 2003 after Sassy Jacobs and Sarah Cannova teamed up to open the boutique's doors in historic upper Georgetown.

What pieces are you excited to dig out of your closet for the fall? For us, it's always cashmere and boots! There is nothing like slipping on your favorite pair of denim (the ones with plenty of stretch), ducking into a soft sweater and pulling on your *perfectly worn in* boots that makes fall mornings that much easier to tackle. The best parts about this clothing combo are the endless ways to accessorize and make the look new each time you strut down the street. Today we are wearing ours with a Theodora and Callum scarf, Marlyn Schiff Hoops, and a studded wrap from Gorjana. Find all of these at your local Sassanova store!

Hey Fall--Thanks for coming on-time this year and bringing 'sweater and boot' weather with you. We are seriously enjoying the merchandise that you inspire; soft tumbled leather boots, cashmere wrap sweaters and delicious silk blouses, and we are glad to call you our favorite time of year. We know things get busy for you; the NBC line-up, October weddings, Halloween, and (yikes!) Black Friday, so we wanted to catch you while you were still low-key and cool. Enjoy your stay in the DC/Baltimore metro area, Sassanova is glad to have you. Feel free to mention to your friend Winter that he should take his time coming through...he has to be tired after sticking around until late April of this year.

Also, Fall? Easy with the rain...Hunter boots aren't that cute.

So-long Disney (it was real Princess Jasmine), we found the new happiest place on earth!

Kate Spade's New York showroom features rooms and rooms of brightly colored wallpaper an decor, amazing leather goods, and fresh and cheery ready-to-wear pieces. Every corner you turn reveals a color combination or display you *wish* you though of, and the staff couldn't be nicer or more chic...no one rocks a cardi and pencil skirt like they do.

Equally as fun is the Kate Spade blog, where the every-day consumer can catch a glimpse behind the curtain of the happily-oiled chic machine that is Kate Spade.

p.s. The new Supercalifragilipstick is unreal. Poppy King is a genius...and her hair is perfection.

ENK Coterie: Sassanova Style

Start spreading the news...Team Sassanova came, saw and conquered ENK Coterie. With entry badges around our necks and tote bags full of line sheets, we made our way through the rows of amazing Spring 2012 collections stopping only for the best of the best (and free candy).

We got to meet and rub elbows with some of our favorites: MZ Wallace, ASHA, Loeffler Randall, DVF, Butter, Roberta Freymann, Theodora and Callum and dozens of others. We also unearthed some new faces to the Sassanova family: Schutz, Melly M, Elizabeth and James, J. Litvack...and our personal favorite Bella Dahl.

We have fallen head-over-Loeffler-heels for the newest addition to the Sassanova product family. SAKKO scarves...or neklaces have hit the stores and are quickly heading home with happy fashionistas who have big fall/winter plans for them.
